Although the Shriners own 22 hospitals, Shrine Temples can choose to support specific hospitals for their specialty and location.

Like most Shrine Temples in Canada, Tunis Shriners are big supporters of the Shriners Hospital for Children Canada located in Montreal, Quebec. Our contribution to the hospital system extends beyond Canada. Tunis Shriners have been known to support the Boston hospital which is considered one of the world’s preeminent hospitals for treating children with various conditions.

Some members of Tunis Shriners sit on the Board of Directors for both Hospitals.

Center of Medical Excellence

The staff includes orthopaedists and pediatricians, as well as other medical specialists. The Shriners Hospital for Children— Canada® is equipped and staffed to provide care for virtually all pediatric orthopaedic problems, with the exception of acute trauma. Some of the orthopaedic problems most commonly treated at the hospital include:

Francis Glorieux Chair in Pediatric Musculoskeletal Research

On 13 September 2011, McGill University and Shriners Hospitals for Children®-Canada announced the creation of the Francis Glorieux Chair in Pediatric Musculoskeletal Research at the hospital in Montreal.

The $3-million Chair, established at McGill University and based at Shriners Hospitals for Children-Canada, is an academic appointment that will serve to attract or retain world-class scholars who pursue the understanding and treatment of complex orthopaedic conditions.
